Psychotherapy will also address emotional problems such as anxiety, depression, anger, hopelessness, despair and stress. Clients will learn how to cope and better manage their emotions.

Play-therapy provides children ways to express thoughts and feelings. We use different Play-therapy approaches such as: *Theraplay (Informed practice) and Dyad Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP)/ (Informed Practice) to address attachment issues.
*Directive and Child Centered (non directive) play-therapy to address other behavioral/emotional problems.
Children are in a stage where their used of language is still developing. They are better able to express their thoughts and feelings through actions and play.
According to Virginia Axline, play is the natural medium of self expression. The idea of using play to observe and get to know people goes back hundreds of years. In ancient Greece the great philosopher Plato said that if you wanted to know a man watch how he plays.
Play-therapy was first used by Freud when he had a 5 year-old client and asked his parents to watch him play.
Play Therapy could be directive or non directive. Directive Play Therapy is when a therapist guides and directs the play using games or activities geared towards resolving a specific issue such as self esteem, attention, anger, trauma, etc.
Non directive Play Therapy allows the child free play and the therapist follows the child's lead. This form of play allows children to better express their feelings and work on their problems by themselves by tapping on their resilience.
Filial Play-Therapy teaches parents indirective play therapy so they could provide means for their children to work on emotional issues by themselves.
Play-therapy has made the difference between success and failure, understanding and confusion, hope and despair for families. Play therapy is also an evidence based approach which makes the process of behavioral changes more time efficient.
